They didn't USED TO have tornados in the LA basin, either.. but recently
there have been some. In Portland, we had never had one in my lifetime until
1981, they just didn't happen there (hilly area, usually prone to strong
east or west winds), but we had one nonetheless.

Nobody is without the chance of a disaster happening to them. It's not a
safe planet. Insurance is a good idea, where possible and feasible.
