I know, the rhetoric is just so oxymoronic, histrionic, self-
cancelling and frankly, retarded. The government is run by
politicians, like governments everywhere, and there is a wide array of
ideologies who nonetheless tend to lump into two and occasionally
three categories. Those categories, when compared to one another,
"appear" to be at great contrast based on rhetoric and posturing, but
in reality they are only fractionally apart from each other when
compared to others worldwide. The devil is in the details, of course,
but the rancor and bluster of one side, usually the side who is not in
power and is feeling temporarily disenfranchised, make it sound the
end of civilization. I agree with Kevin Strom on this one, at least in
principal - we need to get beyond this utter crap.

We need to abandon the Left/Right paradigm and the two criminal parties.

Both gangs support these illegal and immoral aggressive wars, and
both support the destruction of our freedom and privacy in the name
of "national security." Seeing, and acting on, those two truths --
across traditional political divisions -- is the beginning of real
change.

Code Pink, a women's anti-war group, has already reached out to the
Tea Party folks in hopes of understanding and collaboration. That is
a most hopeful sign, as was the racial right's support for Cindy
Sheehan.

While I don't subscribe necessarily to any of the philiosophies of the
groups you cite, Kevin, I certainly agree in principle. That is, as
long as the governed show a sense of responsibility to each other
(which has not always been the case, and which at its core is why we
have laws to start with).

day-to-day, face-to-face arena with people with whom I *used to* be
able to have reasonable discussions but who *now* follow the tea party
mentality, in which one angrily shouts irrelevant questions (because
it feels good to be angry and vent) and then really don't want to hear
any answers, because it's easier that way.

I am tired, and have no energy at the end of the long days for DX.

You may be interested to know that in previous decades, burning oil
slicks across vast reaches of the ocean was theoretically thought to
be a way to steer hurricanes away from populous areas. I you ever
have a chance to see the wonderful Frank Capra - Bell System *1958*
movie "The Unchained Goddess" it briefly describes the process,
shortly before discussing the threat of global climate change, by
themn already a well-developed theory and a source of rising concern
among climatologists, even conservative ones.

I can relate. From here on the other side.

Recently redid the wiring in the house, improved grounds and
replaced all the boxes, conduits, sockets and other implements of
connectivity.

It quieted down my listening environment considerably. Putting
the T-1 router in an RF tight environment, and running all the
CAT52e in grounded conduits did a lot to clean up the tropical
bands, too.

Now, I need to scrape together the time to relax with my radios.

The MTA is not as sensitive as other antennae I've used, but it's
so quiet, with correct grounding, that once the environmental noise
floor is dropped, the signals I can capture are fully 6db lower than
I could with more sensitive antennae.

Now I'm curious what a Wellbrook would do, here.
