All sorts of fringers would make a showing on the Illinois ballot. Commies, socialists, Prohibitionists, you name it. We still have the Loonbritarians and the Groan Party but nothing packs a protest vote punch like voting a straight Commie party ticket.

Illinois is a notoriously difficult state for independent candidates to get on the ballot. Maybe Illinois is also a hot spot for protest votes. That would make sense, as most folk figure that the choice between the two halves of the Illinois Republicrat party is like choosing to have your pocket picked with the right or left hand.
