Does George Bush listen to shortwave radio?

I had read (before he was president) that he was 'well aware' of the shortwave
spectrum. Now make of that what you will. ;-)

I'm sure he's spun a dial or two.

Dxluver January 26th 04 10:37 PM

There's a story going around that both Eisenhower and Kennedy had a
Hallicrafters SX-62 installed on their respective planes. I don't know
if they did any SWLing. They may have just used the radio to listen to
local AM or FM stations as they traveled around. Johnson had a stack of
TVs, each tuned to a different channel. I like the idea that a
president might check the media reports, even if it's just to see if the
public is getting the story right or not.

Yeah, I know Frank if I were in their spots I'd dfinitely be setup (receiver
wise) to the hilt. I wonder what is on Air Force One. {?}

I might check and see what I can find on that.

Dxluver January 26th 04 10:49 PM

And what does it say about a President if he neither reads newspapers or
listens to radio?

That he doesn't. {?}

but I've never heard of
Bush II listening.

Like I said earlier, I read (FWIW) that he was well aware of it, it's *kind
of* hard to believe that Bush has 'literally' NEVER listened nor operated a
shortwave radio in his life . But that's just me. :-)

Dxluver January 26th 04 10:52 PM

He's got to be one of the
least intelligent presidents in US history.

Do you have the facys or stats to back this statement up? I'm sure you do, or
you wouldn't have said that, at least I wouldn't think you would.

*I'd like to read them. Can you share please? :-)

FWIW:I didn't vote for him.

Dxluver January 26th 04 10:58 PM

***I forgot to add to the rest of your post, sorry bout' that.

Everyone on his staff is
smarter than him and they know it.

Really? Huh, that's something. They know it also? Really? Do you know
someone 'personally' on his staff that has told you this? Or do you have the
*classified* IQ tests results because I'd love for you to post it here on
usenet for all of us to read so we know that what you're saying is not "just
your opinion".....but a FACT.....because this is what you have told us.

That's why it's easy for them to
manipulate him.

Hmm, really? Truly? They 'manipulate' him. They do it because they're
'smarter'? Can you PLEASE support this statement also with stats or facts and
share them.

I'll be waiting as will all of us, this will be something to read. A usenet
poster with all this 'actual proof.'

Going to get my coffee:-D

- ANY president woud've " stood tall" when his country was attacked.
- Any..

Even Clinton when they let Osama go? THAT, has been reported by every news
agency in the world, so please Dan, don't ask me for the 'facts' on that one.
Just type in 'Google'.....and you'll find out all about it.

Hey Dan,
I'm thinking about (when I can...I have a list) purchasing one of those
'multi-readers'.....I've heard mixed reviews on them. But living where I do
and (more often than not) usually getting a solid copy on things, I'd love to
have one of these to know what's being said.

I know there's programs and all that jive, but I'd really like to add that to
the arsenal one day soon. Have you ever thought about getting one?

The newer Air Force One is supposed to have alot of emergency
capability, so I expect it has excellent hi performance SW radios.
Since they spend alot of time on runways and such, I'd also expect they
have a good FM system. It would be interesting to know just what they
have, though.

FD,

There may be a Ten-Tec RX-350D in th POTUS Suite for Show and Tell.

BUT - In this Day of Modern Instant Communications for the White
House and Air Force One. If it ain't on TV; a Satellite-Cable News
Channel; a News Wire; or the Internet. Then It Does Not Exist !

If there is a need for a Radio Audio Feed: Then it is most likely
would be XM or Sirius via Satellite. Any other Signal Intelligence
would be a 'direct' Intercept or a relay via ground control.
