Re - read what was written: RedOctober90 quoth: " I stay atheist... you never hear about " atheists mass slaughtering people over some "god". My reply merely pointed out that hardcore Marxist-Leninist governments were secular humanist in nature, which is to say that they were, as a part of their official policy, "atheists," and RedOctober90 is, therefore, in precisely the same company from which he was desperately attempting to distance himself, and that these governments, while in fact officially atheistic, managed to "mass slaughter" their best and brightest. Now, don't put words into my mouth, damnit. I was attempting to merely point out that, while RO90 was busy thumping his chest, his brain was gleefully asleep, inasmuch as he could not see the hypocrisy in his words. How could you have missed that one, guys? 73, Steve Lawrence Burnsville, Minnesota I didn't, Steve, but having made my point by agreeing with that post, then seeing the next post completely misunderstand the entire concept, I didn't think it worth my time to reply. I'm glad you did, though. The most fascinating thing I see in "Atheists" is that they have made a faith-based decision at least as profound as those that believe in God. They're saying "I'm absolutely positive that there is no God, my mind is made up." I can understand the "Agnostic" argument much more readily -- "I haven't seen enough evidence to believe in a God." But the atheist's belief that they are absolutely certain that there is not a God is (whether they admit it or not) a faith-based decision. -- Stinger |

When witnessing the wonders I can find in nature, even in my own backyard, I have to ask myself how anyone can make such a leap of faith. As I pointed out to a relative who claimed to be an Atheist (this was years ago; he's managed to recover of late).... "If you (an unbeliver) are right and I (a beliver) am wrong, you've got nothing to lose by believing." However, if I (a beliver) am right and you (an unbeliever) am wrong, you've got EVERYTHING to lose by not believing." I often think about the Ten Commandments monuments being torn down by unbelievers. If we struck the first one (I the Lord am your God, you will have no other gods before me), *just which one* of those commandments do folks find objectionable? Thou shalt not kill? Thou shalt not covet? I don't believe a monument hurts anyone - not even a monument to Islam, Buddhism, etc. etc. I wake up some mornings and wonder what will become of us as a nation, but I've still got hope. 73, Steve Lawrence Burnsville, MN --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
