How so? Looks kind of cheesy to me.

Don't think cheesy really applies to that radio. I understand it is
very well finished and the controls are precise for an analog radio and
smooth in operation. It would be fun to use, but the price of $3,000
puts it way outside of the realm of what I would call a user radio.
Someone who like Sony things will undoubtedly put it on a shelf. There
are numerous other radios with the same feel and reception ability for
far less.

Collector wise it's probably worth in the rang of $650-1000 but not $2500
B.H.

I dunno....collectors seem to have a wide range of acceptable value
vbg.
I've seen the 320 fetch 2500 + on Ebay, the Panasonic RF9000 go for
close to $4k, Sony 6800 go for $1k, and so forth. All nice radios, but
collectors will bid one out of sight if it will complete a collection
or if it comes with all important goodies like original box,
instructions, hang tags, etc.

Collecting can easily become addiction.

There are some items such as antique toys, the boxes they came in can be
worth more than the toys themselves.

And it's 1000% functional so that would make it 10 times better than new!

It looks pretty and in perfect shape but what makes this radio worth
$2,250? The CRF320 supposed to be an exceptional performer?

There's a school of thought which maintains that, no matter what foolish
price you paid for certain uptrendy priced radios, there will always be
somebody who will pay even more when the radio is resold. People who
believe such things can "invest" their meal money and home down payments
without worry.

Owning several Collins radios might constitue a nice retirement fund. Well,
that and a large supply of well-heeled future "investors" who really want to
own expensive old radios.
