Subject: T shirt for some of you non hams
From: Tony P. Date: 4/7/2004 1:46 AM Central Standard Time Message-id: In article , says... http://www.enemynation.com/ProductIm...ges/fcc300.gif Some of us hams might be proud to wear a shirt like that. While I don't disagree with Part 97 or the basic regulatory apparatus, I do disagree with the blatant censorship being perpetrated by the FCC. And I have both my Extra and my General Radiotelephone licenses. There's a fine line between "censorship" and demanding that our airwaves not sound like a brothel on payday night. One can effectively express thier views without resorting to the usual profane adjectives. Why does Howard Stern and others of his ilk have to use profanity and disrepute women in general for his "shows"...?!?! In my not so humble opinion, it just goes to show that without profanity or ribald reference to women, he's got absolutely nothing to offer....He AND the other "shock jocks". But the "shocking" part is that many of the people who are now demanding his censure are the same liberal twits who thought this was "freedom of speech" and that he was funny only 10 or 15 years ago. It's not so funny now that THIER KIDS are coming home with a mouth full of filth! Steve, K4YZ |

Do the numbers "3995" or "14313" mean anything to you? One can effectively express thier views without resorting to the usual profane adjectives. Way to go, Rev. Robeson...or is that "Rev. Janus" with the two faces? Why does Howard Stern and others of his ilk have to use profanity and disrepute women in general for his "shows"...?!?! Stern is a radio amateur? There's not supposed to be any broadcasting in amateur radio. Ah, but you want to make this a CHAT ROOM, do you? In my not so humble opinion, it just goes to show that without profanity or ribald reference to women, he's got absolutely nothing to offer....He AND the other "shock jocks". Well, then, rise up and smite the infidels, cleanse the ethnic white male dominance of amateur radio! Make amateur radio SAFE for "your kind"...the ones that love to call others filthy and profane names...but allow no others to do anything horrible like that to YOU. :-) But the "shocking" part is that many of the people who are now demanding his censure are the same liberal twits who thought this was "freedom of speech" and that he was funny only 10 or 15 years ago. FCC proceeding 98-143, date 25 January 1999. How quickly some forget. Tsk, tsk. It's not so funny now that THIER KIDS are coming home with a mouth full of filth! Troi senses trouble in your home... Have you tried family counseling for your kid? Hypocrite. Shalom, meshugge goyim... LHA / WMD |

Subject: T shirt for some of you non hams snip There's a fine line between "censorship" and demanding that our airwaves not sound like a brothel on payday night. It's not so funny now that THIER KIDS are coming home with a mouth full of filth! Steve, K4YZ Steve, we'll always have folks arguing for/against censorship. Free the air waves! Yep. Did you see the article in the newspaper day before yesterday? If you didn't, send me a note off group and I'll send you a photo of it as it is still on my porch in the recycle bin. The article? Heheheheh .... Essentially, it seems there are new interference problems. The police and fire departments in some areas have been experiencing interference from - get ready for this - CELL PHONES! Yep, the huge numbers of cell phones and cell phone towers are beginning to make it difficult for the fire and police to communicate. Many folks with HTs that have been in reasonably close proximity to large communications centers (such as the 911 center about two miles from my house) already know about intermod. Hey, weren't cell phones supposed to be the new 'emergency' communications? The sad thing is that the FCC is largely a shill for large business now. It would't take a ton of effort for some kind of coordination to help avoid this problem - but, hey, no regulation is better than regulation, right? I hope your area isn't one of those they were talking about. Power to the people! I can see it now. A release of gas, a minor quake - all the cell phones light up and the police comms go down. Hey, why not eliminate the FCC entirely? Just wait until BPL arrives ![]() Best regards from Rochester, NY Jim AA2QA --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. It's not so funny now that THIER KIDS are coming home with a mouth full of filth! The way that they can do it is because they are STUPID, Steve! They seem to think that this will protect their kids and that they will grow up drug free because their parents will talk to them, and they will refrain from all sexual activity, remaining a virgin until the age of thirty-five, after which they will marry and live a morally correct life........... fuggitaboudit! Kids will learn the language and the "bad stuff" anyhow, and the SFB's that think the censorship will help don't realize that they just make it "kewler" But on the other hand, I want it cleaned up because its piggish and awful manners and catering to the lowest common denominator. - Mike KB3EIA - |

![]() The article? Heheheheh .... Essentially, it seems there are new interference problems. The police and fire departments in some areas have been experiencing interference from - get ready for this - CELL PHONES! Saw it here in the local rag too. The diagrams were particularly uninformative. Showed radio towers with a wave comming out. And the wave was divided up into various sections showing allocations. At first I thought "time division domain" but realized that it had to be "frequency dividion domain" for the allocations to make sense. Yep, the huge numbers of cell phones and cell phone towers are beginning to make it difficult for the fire and police to communicate. Many folks with HTs that have been in reasonably close proximity to large communications centers (such as the 911 center about two miles from my house) already know about intermod. They are "zero content" words that get in the way of the topic or joke or whatever. I remember watching one of the Eddie Murphy movies and getting disgusted. Here was a amazingly funny guy, and all the profanity just got in the way, like you said. If you want to listen to how profanity can be used properly in entertainment, listen to Garrison Keillor. He will say a mild off color word about once every 6 months, and it's very rarity makes for a real kick. His 4th of July fireworks barge disaster is a classic in that way. - Mike KB3EIA - |
