Default Antenna Down

My antenna is down from high winds (longwire)

This gives a new meaning to "ground effects"

I'll try to get it backup when the storm passes. I have a backup in the
eves.

Considering the incredible amount of prescription drugs you ingest it
is possible that you are just hallucinating.

Perhaps asking a neighbor if the antenna is in fact down would be a
good idea.

Considering that you never post on topic why should anyone care what you
think.

I see you subscribe to SWL rule #1: Always have a backup (radio,
antenna, set of batteries) ready.

Rule #2 is to remember to breathe occasionally no matter how exciting
the DX is...

.. listening to ZL and VK hams on 20 meters right now

Not sure if this applies in your case, but when one of my antennas
come down, I figure it's a good opportunity to try a new antenna out.

There are so many interesting options: loops, balanced dipoles,
verticals, slopers, etc. I'm playing with loops right now. If you
have three or more relatively separated trees (or one tall support and
ground tiedowns), this may be worth a look too.

Good luck getting some wire back in the air!

Coax Cable + Matching Transformer + Insulated Antenna Wire

With Insulated Antenna Wire even if the Wire Antenna
Element is on the Ground the Antenna will still work
-provided-
The Coax Cable is OK
The Matching Transformer is OK
Some of the Insulated Antenna Wire is OK

With Insulated Antenna Wire if the Wire Antenna
Element breaks somewhere along the run : Take
the Broken End and Tape it and secure it; and
keep listening to your Radio. ~ RHF

The storm has moved on north of us but we still have the rain, rained hard
all night.

If it lays down later I'll see what I can do to string it back up.

Good luck, thought it was gonna be a totally dry day here though it darn near
hit 90 and humid. Got some rain bearing down on me now:

The antennas are disconnected.

The front went through and darn near blew me down. AM reception is coming back (WLS), and we did get some nice rain.

Lots of lightning still in the area.

Can't wait until there are some quieter conditions during dx season here.
