Thanks to everyone for their replies.

I actually did check Universal and they do have them. Based on the feedback
that I got here and from the prior things I've read about this antenna, I
went ahead and ordered one from Universal.

Universal said I should have it by Wednesday or Thursday. I'm looking
forward to it.

Now...when I attach the new antenna, what can I realsitically expect?

Universal Radio still shows the AN-LP1 on their on-line catalog. So
perhaps it is indeed not discontinued. If anyone is
interested in one, give Universal a call and see what the status is.
