ubject: Icom R8500 failure
From: (maitkaci) Date: 11/23/2003 1:00 AM Mountain Standard Time Message-id: Can anybody help me about an unexpected failure in an Icom R8500 receptor? No more signal, no more audio output, no way to enter a new frequency with "MW" button. The display flashes continuously. Has anybody experienced such a phenomenon ? Help needed since there is no Icom support in the place where I live. Thank you. AitKaci I recently experienced the same problem with my R8500 after accidentally shutting off the power to the set with the switch on the surge protector. I turned the unit back on with the main power switch, the display flashed for about five minutes, and then the receiver appeared to reset itself. My R8500 is now working fine and I am able to enter frequencies manually with no problems. If there was a power failure in your area recently, I would suggest trying to reset your R8500 by using the above procedure. The flashing display, loss of audio output, and temporary loss of keyboard function seem to be common to the R8500 after an interruption of AC power. Good luck. 73, David |
