It is like debate in college, forcing you to research even if you do not agree with the position you must defend. Debating with these "experts" is like trying to sustain an intelligent conversation on the drive-through intercom at McDonalds. I'm not interested in arguing on Usenet, which is why Bob Haberkost is in the kill file so you stepped in the dog poop twice in one paragraph by referring to a Troll as someone to read and expressed condescension after the fact of engaging in an argument. It is hard not to talk down to someone who does not look at facts before continuing a discussion. This, in simplified form, is what stinger did. He wanted to make a point about the lack of success of Air America based on a limited understanding of ratings for a crippled-signal station in only one of the Air America markets. Since Air America is a national network/syndictor, it must be evaluated based on multiple markets. And to do this, we have to wait because in most of the larger rated markets they are in, AA has not been on long enough time to get traction... or to fail. This isn't a place to argue, it's a place to post news. Au contraire. Usenet is intended for discussion, opinion and debate. No it not. It's a "news group" not an opinion forum. Your mistake is continuing to argue with Stinger. You made your point many posts before this and you should just leave it at that. You made your point and so did stinger but continuing on just makes it a flame thread defeating any purpose of informing other people reading the news group. If you can't or don't want to do that then get lost. I don't post news here. I have a PR firm that posts my news. That is a function of the business of radio. Look for news on rronline.com or allacces or subscribe to Inside Radio, RBR, M Street Journal, or one of the many industry newletters and publications. Well then you better start. That's real nice that you have resources that other people like me don't have but that is besides the point that this is a "news group." Keep this crap up and you are in the kill file with Bob. That is your choice. But by "threatening" it, you are saying you do not want to hear oposing oints of view and evaluate them on thier merits or by verification. Bull****. I read plenty of people who's point of view I don't agree with. I used to have more respect for you before reading this thread. I have all the respect I need inside the "real world" of radio. Like most people, I am here to hear other peoples ideas... and engage in debate where appropriate. I have respect for people that post on topic newsworthy knowledge and are willing to express it here. If you don't want to post that kind of material then I don't have time for you period. Now I've made my point and I'm not going to argue about it so this is it. Conform to the topic of the news group and post something "newsworthy" or join Bob in the kill file. It's your choice. -- Telamon Ventura, California |
