Do any other preselectors work well with this radio? But, yes, that PS looks nice too. The "Braun" preselector. It's better and even more rare and pricey. The Yaesu FRT-7700 works fine with my Sony 2001D/2010. This discontimued item sells used for the price as it was new.... I just don`t know a really good preselector wich is still manufactured. |

I have the FRA-7700 I have it too :-) I have nodified it to feed an external antenna with BNC connector. So it makes a fine selective HF preamp. I've this thing cascaded with the FRT-7700. It works fine with my Sony but it doesn't make anything better on my NRD-525. |

You can run it active with a 9 volt battery too. But, the 150 has a built in preamp. But that's only for the whip right? Still, you can clip a longwire to the antenna. Lucky |

This idea ist not that good for me. I like to feed the preamp with a sinal from the attic 6th floor (my appartment is on base floor) and not with computer noise :-) There are some unused chimneys I run some coax-feedlines through. Unfortunately I'm forbidden to go on top of the roof :-(( |

I've never found a reason here to use an 'outboard' pre-selector. dxAce Michigan USA |

For sure I don't need this on the NRD-525 as you dont need one on the Drake-R8B... :-) But as I had the things available I gave it a try on the NRD too :-) On the Sony the external antenna with the FRA/FRT combo works wonders. You can use them together to passbandtune for much more seletivity than the Yaesu FRT-7700 preselector alone is giving. For sure you have to fiddle on the knobs a lot. This may be another thing with other brands. |

The whip connects to the regular antenna jack. You can use the preamp with any antenna, but if it's a large one, you should expect overloading. |

I'm spoiled by the preamps on the R-75. Lucky |
