In article k.net,
"Dan/W4NTI" w4nti@get rid of this mindspring.com writes: If he is such an 'idiot' and McCain is so smart...then how come the 'idiot' is the President? Oh, I know. The Republicans stole the election, right? Nope. The person you have to thank or blame is Ralph Nader. By splitting the support for Gore, he managed to put Dubya in the Oval Office. Talk about irony - the author of "Unsafe At Any Speed" managed to put a Texas oil man in the White House. Exit polls across the nation during the 2000 election showed that the following response when asked what they would have done if Nader had not run, or had quit: About 1/4 said they'd vote for Bush About 1/4 said they'd stay home, vote for another 3rd part candidate, etc. About 1/2 said they'd vote for Gore. Ralph got about 3 million votes across the country, so if 750,000 had gone for Bush and 1.5 million for Gore, it would have been a very different election. State-by-state analysis shows that several close states - particularly Florida - would have been solid for Gore. The situation was similar to what Perot did, only this time the Republicans were the beneficiaries. Thanks, Ralph 73 de Jim, N2EY |
